The Night Auditor is a key member of the Front Desk team responsible for the overnight operations of the hostel, verifying the accuracy of guest accounts, balancing charges and revenues, as well as assisting with all aspects of guest services.


  • Engage each guest and provide excellent customer service
  • Perform accurate check ins and check outs of guests daily
  • Make accurate reservations over the phone, in person, via online reservation systems
  • Responsible for a cash float and inventory levels throughout the shift and ensuring all floats balance correctly at the end of the shift
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, listen and address guests’ complaints or concerns resolving the issue in a timely manner, in accordance with training and sound business decisions
  • Learn and adhere to all fire and emergency procedures
  • Act as an overnight security person, ensuring only registered guests gain access to the property
  • Verify revenue from all sources is accurately balanced, follow up on any discrepancies
  • Post any transactions needed and perform end-of-day procedures
  • Produce daily reports for departments and department heads
  • Compile and run statistical reports for all departments and transfer information to our Accounting department
  • Receive early morning deliveries
  • Other duties as assigned by management


  • Overnight shifts. 11:30 p.m. start, 7:30 a.m. end with a 30 minute paid break
  • Requires standing for the duration of the shift
  • Requires lifting and carrying heavy items
  • This work is often carried out in a busy environment
  • Requires to work weekends and public holidays


  • Aptitude for organized workplace
  • Ability to stay alert during overnight hours
  • Ability to offer excellent service to a multicultural guest base
  • Able to read and understand financial reports, identifying problem areas and alerting management to discrepancies
  • Able to perform complex mathematical problems
  • Able to identify and fix problems in small details
  • Able to use computer programs in order to generate financial reports
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple work demands
  • Ability to accurately handle large sums of cash and payment transactions
  • Ability to accurately handle large sums of inventory
  • Ability to manage conflict in an effective and safe manner
  • College/University Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality, Tourism, Finance or Accounting an asset
  • Minimum 1-year experience in customer service (preferably in the Hotel/Hostel industries)
  • Proven experience in cash handling and basic understanding of financial reports


  • Start date: When Position is Filled
  • Type: Permanent and/or part-time (24-32 hours per week)
  • Compensation: Starting at 14.00$ per hour + $3.00 overnight premium per hour + commissions
