HI Toronto was first located down the street at 223 Church Street. In order to welcome more guests each night, the hostel needed to move to a larger location. So in 1998, the hostel re-opened its current location at 76 Church Street… our home ever since!
Today, the hostel can accommodate up to 170 people in a combination of shared and private rooms. At HI-Toronto we offer more than a place to sleep. Our fun, charming staff and our awesome schedule of daily activities, will ensure you’ll have an epic adventure in our city.
Operated by the not-for-profit organization Auberges de jeunesse du St-Laurent, HI Toronto is a proud member of the Hostelling International Network. As such we are dedicated to the following mission:
UNITE CONSCIOUS TRAVELLERS WHO SHARE A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF PEOPLE, PLACES, AND CULTURES
The HI Network
Hostelling International is a network of nearly 3,900 hostels in 64 different countries. It‘s one of the largest membership organizations in the world with over 3.7 million members across the globe.
In Canada, HI is represented by 58 hostels from coast to coast. From the urban jungle to the rustic wilderness, no matter your travel style, HI Canada has you covered. All HI hostels in Canada are inspected each year to ensure they meet HI’s high standards of cleanliness, security, available amenities, and sustainability. So whether you’re staying in a yurt by the sea, a modern private room in the big city, or a shared room at the base of a mountain, you can sleep easy knowing you can expect a consistent level of service across the country.
HI knows that hostelling is about more than having an affordable place to rest your head at the end of a busy day of exploration. Hostels are an integral part of your adventure. Through organized activities and special programs, HI brings together like-minded travelers from all walks of life. While staying at a HI hostel, you will meet new people, discover different cultures and customs, and maybe even learn more about yourself too.
